WEEK 10

4/25/18

CLASS PROJECTS
We got permission to design the posters for the Mother's Day Plant Sale! In addition, the class is designing small gift cards that will be sold at the sale along with the plants.

Some students also designed the posters for our new Book Swap Shelf (located near the auditorium in the lobby). Great work, everyone!

WEEK 9

4/18/18
COMPOSITION LAYOUT REVIEW

Today, we reviewed elements of layout and composition in order to make our work stronger.

We watched this video that was a good review and discussed the work of British designer, Kate Moross. According to famousdesigners.org, Kate is a "rising contemporary London-based graphic designer, illustrator and art director. She is recognized for her typographic illustrations. At the young age of twenty-six she has achieved a prominent position in the world of designing. She is currently the art director of Studio Moross. Her designs follow a certain pattern such as three sided shapes, illegible typography and she is fond of freeform lettering. Kate is a versatile and multi-talented graphic designer who worked across a range of illustrative art and designing including motion graphics, photography and moving image. Since graduation she has worked prolifically and created bold artwork for some of the leading clients."

Make your favorite song come alive!

Every graphic designer's dream is to design an album cover for their favorite band! Bringing the songs to life with image and type is a pretty big challenge. Check out some classic album covers HERE.

Here is a really famous one from The Police. Really great album covers become almost as famous as the songs they represent!

Make sure your album cover is:
1. square - 8" x 8"
2. lists the name of the band
3. has really eye catching artwork or typography to help it stand out
